Theatre Director

I’m a British American theatre artist based in London, specialising in new writing, devised work and musical theatre. I was an Artistic Associate of The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter from 2011 - 2018, and an Associate of Theatre503 from 2004 - 2010. I am a proud member of Stage Directors UK.

As a theatre-maker I create visceral work exploring edgy subject matter such as war, mental illness and violence against women. From Terrorist! The Musical (what it says on the tin) to Up the Gary (about the rise and fall of an ordinary Gary Glitter tribute artist), I combine humour, detailed psychology, engaging sound design and visual metaphor to investigate complex topics.

Awards include The New York International Fringe Festival Excellence Award for Outstanding Direction 2007 (All Alone by Gene David Kirk), and multiple award nominations for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Rebecca Crookshank (Edfringe/NYC/UK tour) including the Liberty Human Rights Arts Award 2016 & Best Director Broadway World UK Awards 2015.

Audio Producer. Director. Writer.

I’m a professional storyteller, with a passion for radio, podcasting and journalism. My audio success is built on a 15-year career as an award-winning theatre director, dramaturg and playwright, when I specialised in creating original work. I thrive on developing ideas from initial concept to production. I love working collaboratively as a team member or as a leader, skills I’ve enhanced while producing audio for flagship BBC programmes.
